The man killed in a stabbing incident in Offaly on Sunday night is believed to be a foreign national from Europe.
The 56-year-old died when he suffered serious stab wounds at a house on the Green Road in Ballyfore on Sunday evening.
Emergency services responded to the scene after a 999 call, and although paramedics attempted to treat the man, he died from his injuries at the scene.
His body remains at the scene pending the arrival of the State Pathologist and further forensic examination.
A juvenile male was arrested at the scene and gardaí are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack.
The deceased man is believed to have been living in the Edenderry area for more than 15 years and was in a relationship with a local woman.
The teenager arrested at the scene in relation to the incident is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Tullamore Garda Station.
The Garda Technical Bureau remain at the scene of the detached bungalow where forensic investigations are continuing.
