A juvenile male has been arrested and is being questioned by gardai after a stabbing incident in Offaly on Sunday.
At 7.48pm on November 19, Gardai were called to a house on the Green Road, Ballyfore, Edenderry, Co Offaly following reports of a man with serious stab wounds.
Despite the efforts of the medical personnel the man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene where a number of distressed people were present.
A juvenile male was arrested at the scene in relation to the incident and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Tullamore Garda Station.
Gardaí are not looking for anyone else in relation to the death.
The house is currently sealed off pending the arrival of the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau who will carry out a forensic examination of the area.
The body of the dead man remains at the scene.
An incident room has been set up at Tullamore Garda Station.
