A stalwart member of Tullamore Musical Society has been honoured by her peers.

In a post on Facebook the society states: "On Tuesday night at our AGM it was a great honor to bestow Honorary Life Membership of Tullamore Musical Society to Aoife Fitzsimons.

Aoife joined the society in 2003 as a member of the chorus in our rousing production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. And from that moment on, she didn’t just join - she became part of the heartbeat of the society.

Over the years, Aoife has taken on many roles, both on and off the stage. Most notably, she has served an incredible 16 years on committee. That includes 6 years as Chairperson, 3 years as President, 2 years as Secretary, and 5 years as a general committee member.

On stage, Aoife has given us just as much to celebrate. From her performances as Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Mrs Potts in Beauty and the Beast, the Mikado in Hot Mikado, and Morticia in The Addams Family, she has consistently brought professionalism, warmth, and a real sense of joy to every role she takes on.

But what perhaps says even more is that Aoife is just as proud to stand in the chorus. She embraces every role - big or small - with the same commitment and creativity

She is a friend to everyone in this society. She makes people feel welcome, included, and valued. She goes out of her way to support others, often quietly and without recognition.

We also take a moment to remember those Honorary Life Members who have gone before - Fr Laurence Bannon, Eileen Cronin, and Anna Browne - and to acknowledge our current Life Members, Brian Gunning and Frank Nicholson."
