Canadian Ambassador to visit Clonmacnoise and other sites on day-long tour of Offaly

CLONMACNOISE

THE Canadian Ambassador, Dennis King is visiting Offaly today, hosted by local Fianna Fail TD, Tony McCormack.

The day-long visit will include an afternoon trip to the ancient monastic city of Clonmacnoise as well as a tour of the Tullamore DEW Distillery and lunch at Shane Lowy's Old Warehouse in Tullamore.

The ambassador will also meet with the Chief Executive of Offaly County Council and the Leas Cathaoirleach, Cllr Sean O'Brien as well as meeting students and staff of two local secondary schools.

The schedule is as follows:

9.30am – Tullamore College

Meeting with students and staff

Meeting with Principal Edward McEvoy

11.00am – Killina Presentation Secondary School

Camogie match presentation and meeting with players, management and school staff

Meeting with Principal John Cotter

12noon – Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery Experience

Brief tour of the distillery

12.45pm – Lunch

The Old Warehouse – Shane Lowry’s

2pm – Offaly County Council Offices

Meeting with the Chief Executive, Council staff and the Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council
