Charges and a summons came before Tullamore District Court

GARDAI estimate that alleged drugs possessed by a man in Tullamore were worth over €4,800.

Sergeant Richard Thornton gave the estimated value at the local District Court when Josh Rigney (22), Church View, Tullamore, appeared on charges alleging he had drugs at his own address on February 4 last for sale or supply to others.

Mr Rigney is also accused of committing public order offences at O'Connor Square, Tullamore on December 21 last and drug possession and obstructing a garda at Market Square in the town on December 26 last.

Defending solicitor Patrick Martin sought disclosure of evidence in relation to charges to which his client is not yet pleading guilty.

Sergeant Thornton sought a remand of up to six weeks for directions from the DPP and Judge Andrew Cody remanded Mr Rigney on continuing bail to appear in court again on March 18.

The accused has also been summonsed for alleged drug possession at William Street, Tullamore on July 19 last.
