It was a tough night for the Irish rugby team in Paris on Thursday night but there was a birthday present for an Offaly star.
On his Six Nations debut and on his 27th birthday, Offaly's Michael Milne came off the bench in the second-half and made an instant impact with a close range try.
The Munster prop, who started playing rugby at a young age with Birr RFC, had to wait for confirmation as there was a TMO check but the try was awarded in the Stade de France.
Ultimately the try was scored in a losing effort as France had romped into a 29-0 lead as Ireland struggled to deal with the home side's power, pace and incredible handling skills in wet conditions.
Nick Timoni scored Ireland's first try before Milne added the second.
France put on some late pressure and scored with the final play of the game with the final score finishing 36-14 to France.
