Several people were involved in the physical altercation in the Birr housing estate.
A Melee in Offaly involving several people had to be dispersed using pepper spray, on New Year's Day.
At 4.30am a Garda car was on mobile patrol when it pulled into a housing estate in Birr.
There they saw several people in the open air involved in a physical altercation.
“Pepper spray had to be deployed to break up the melee,” a spokesperson said, “and everybody was sent home."
Gardai say the matter is being investigated.
