ONCE again there was a variety of celebrations at the Mountlucas parkrun at the weekend. There were 100 walkers, joggers and runners completing the 5km looped course, as well as a large number of volunteers.

There were a number of milestones celebrated on the day. Maureen Pywell completed her 25th parkrun. Maureen has been attending Mountlucas parkrun since early 2024 and has completed all 25 parkruns at Mountlucas parkrun.

Paschal is one of the Rub Directors for Mountlucas parkrun and plays a key role on the volunteer team for the event, as well as being an avid participant.

It was a particularly cold morning for the event and the volunteers organising the event had to be very well wrapped up.

A special thanks to the volunteer team from all at Mountlucas parkrun. There was a milestone also celebrated among the volunteers as 11 year old Pearl volunteered for the 25th time.

Speaking to Pearl after the event she said "I had forgotten it was going to be a milestone for me today! I really like volunteering at parkrun and my favourite job is handing out the finish tokens to everyone as they cross the finish line." Volunteering at parkrun is a great way to give back to your local community, and there are suitable vokunteering roles for all ages and abilities.
