The late Ashling Murphy
A SPECIAL Memorial Day for Ashling Murphy will take place on Saturday, December 6 in the Bridge Centre, Tullamore from 10am to 5pm.
There will be live music, a monster raffle, face painting and the national launch of the Gaeltacht Scholarship at the Ashling Murphy Memorial Day. There will also be branded merchandise and an information stand on funding.
The raffle can be entered online at Ashlingmurphy.com or in the Bridge Centre on Saturday and the winning tickets will be drawn on the day in the Bridge Centre at about 4.30pm.
“Join us as we come together to remember Ashling with love, music, and community spirit… the same qualities she showed in every part of her life,” a post by the fund on its social media page said. “We look forward to you joining us as we come together to celebrate the life and legacy of Ashling Murphy.”
The Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund has thanked all the businesses who donated prizes for the raffle and assured them that their generosity will be warmly acknowledged on the fund's social media, website, and during the event.
Anyone who wishes to contribute to the raffle is asked to email AshlingMurphyMemorialFund@gmail.com or send a private message on any of the fund's social media pages to arrange collection.
Among the many, many prizes are a bed and mattress worth €900, Birr County Arms Hotel one-year Gym Membership, valued at €500, numerous hampers and vouchers, oil paintings and more.
Ashling Murphy was just 23 when she was murdered on the bank of the Grand Canal near Tullamore on January 12, 2022.
A primary teacher in Durrow National School, the Blueball native was a traditional music player and tutor and the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund, a registered charity, raises money for traditional Irish arts, culture and heritage.
