Planning permission has been sought for the development of 20 new houses in Rhode Village.
Applied for by Patrick Muldoon on October 23, the proposed housing development would consist of various-sized properties and also include the demolition of an existing single storey house to facilitate access from the R400.
A planning notice was recently published in the Offaly Topic for the site at Edenderry Road, Laurencetown in Rhode.

Mr Muldoon is hoping to obtain permission for the following: Two detached 3-bedroom single storey houses, three detached 3-bedroom single storey houses, three detached 3-bedroom dormer type houses, four semi-detached 4-bedroom two storey houses, one semi-detached 4-bedroom two storey house, one semi-detached dual aspect 4-bedroom two-storey house, one semi-detached 3-bedroom two storey house, one semi-detached dual aspect 3-bedroom two storey house and four semi-detached 2-bedroom two storey houses.
Planning permission has also been lodged for pedestrian access to the adjoining community playground and onto the public footpath as well as for foul and surface water drainage works and all associated siteworks to facilitate this development.
A submission or observation in relation to the application can be made in writing to the planning authority for a prescribed fee of €20. This must be within five weeks of the authority first recieving the planning application.
A decision on the proposed housing development will be made on December 17, 2025.
