New principal appointed to Offaly secondary school

A new principal has been appointed to Oaklands Community School in Edenderry.

Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB) has announced that Seamus Mohan will take over as the new principal at the school. He will take up his new role as principal on Monday, September 1.

Seamus served as principal of Mullingar Community College for the last six years.

LOETB warmly welcomed Seamus and wished him every success in his new role at Oaklands Community College. His leadership, vision, and commitment to excellence will be invaluable as we continue to grow and develop in the coming years.

In congratulating Seamus on his new appointment, LOETB’s Director of Schools, Linda Tynan said, "Seamus joins a thriving school with a dedicated, passionate staff, and students who consistently demonstrate academic excellence, equality, care, and a strong sense of community. This appointment comes at a particularly exciting time for Oaklands Community College as preparations are now underway for the development of the new state-of-the-art school building. The entire school community looks forward to the completion of this transformative project in the coming years."

Joe Cunningham, Chief Executive at LOETB, congratulated Seamus on his new appointment.

"We are very pleased to welcome Seamus to his new role as Principal at Oaklands Community College," he said. "He brings a wealth of experience in school leadership and a strong track record of working collaboratively with senior management teams. The current Deputy Principals Ms Mairead O’Shea and Mr Liam Quinn, with the entire staff, represent a highly dedicated team who have consistently built on the school’s strong foundations in Edenderry and surrounding areas. I wish Seamus, the entire staff and students well as they embark on the journey ahead.’

Oaklands Community College is one of nine schools under the patronage of LOETB.
