Series of rolling road closures announced for Tullamore Harriers Half Marathon

A series of temporary road closures will be in place for the Bord na Mona Tullamore Harriers Half Marathon which takes place this weekend

The race takes places on Saturday, August 30 with a field of 1,400 runners taking on a testing but fair loop on country roads out through Mucklagh, down the Ross Road to Ballinacanty Cross, into Killurin and finishing in the Harriers’ famed stadium. The national championships are returning this year and that will ensure some very good athletes take to the line. 

During the race, there will be temporary closures of the following roads during the listed times. Diversions will be in place.

Charleville Road from the Kilcruttin Junction to the Charleville Roundabout - The road will be closed from 9.30am until 10.30am on Saturday, August 30. The diversion route will be via Cormac Street, Clonminch Road, Clonminch Roundabout, Tullamore Bypass, Ballard Roundabout.

Black Lion Junction to Killurin Cross - The road will be closed from 10.30am until 1.00pm on Saturday, August 30. Traffic heading to Mountbolus, Blueball from Kinnitty etc. shall divert at Killoughy Cross. Tullamore traffic to divert at Killurin Cross via Gurteen Bridge, Killeigh.

Killurin Cross to Ballard Roundabout via Cloonagh. The road will be closed from 10.45am until 1.30pm on Saturday, August 30. The diversion route for traffic heading to Tullamore shall be from Killurin Cross via Gurteen Bridge, Scrubb Cross, Clonminch Roundabout. Tullamore traffic heading to Kinnitty to divert through Kilcormac.

Charleville Road, from Charleville Roundabout to Kilcruttin Junction. The road will be closed from 10.50am until 1pm. The diversion routes will be via Ballard Roundabout, Tullamore Bypass, Clonminch Roundabout, Clonminch Road, Cormac Street.
