A TOTAL allocation of €868,000 for Offaly rural water services has been announced.
The allocation formed part of this week’s announcement by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, of almost €74 million in capital funding for 291 rural water projects nationwide.
Welcoming the announcement, Deputy Tony McCormack said: “This funding will make a real and lasting difference to communities across Offaly. It reflects our ongoing commitment in Government to support rural areas, ensuring greater regional balance.
“This funding lays the groundwork for sustainable growth in both regional hubs and smaller towns and villages. As we continue to deliver on our housing commitments infrastructure like this is essential to ensure even greater housing delivery.”

The investment is being made under the Rural Water Programme 2024–2026 and will significantly improve access to safe, reliable drinking water in rural areas that are not connected to the public (Uisce Éireann) network.
Speaking further, Deputy McCormack added, “This investment will make a big difference for generations to come. Investment like this lays the groundwork for future growth, from building new homes to supporting local development into the future across Offaly.”
