THE "taking in charge" of a model housing estate in Tullamore by Offaly County Council has been welcomed by a local councillor.

Cllr Shane Murray – who is also the chairman of Tullamore Tidy Towns – said this award-winning development was created by local company Capital Homes.

The firm is located in Central Business Park, Clonminch and run by the husband and wife team of Betty and Seamus Sheerin.

"This is a model estate with a A2 building energy rating for all its homes which means they are designed for high energy performance and reduced energy consumption," he revealed.

The Tidy Towns chief said "the green infrastructure planting of native trees and great landscaping designed to support biodiversity are second to none."
