The READY organisation has penned this tribute to the late George Lynam, Tullamore who died on June 27. George was a member of READY and often went on trips with them to various places.

PRO Phil Newton says READY members and friends have some lovely memories of both George, and his lovely wife, Kathleen travelling with them on their numerous excursions and Seniors Holidays over the years. ''They were a devoted couple, and radiated that special connection known as true and life long love,'' remembers Phil.

''We recall that on our trips George had an interest in everything, and could tell you amazing stories about what he discovered inside the older shops in the many towns we found ourselves in. Both George and Kathleen were great company, and brightened up many of our social events.

As we got to know George over the years, we discovered that he was a genius. He could fix anything, and had a brilliant creative mind and had a passion for inventing gadgets for making life easier.

Phil Newton recalls, ''I got to know George further through his loyal participation in our Simon Market in the old TESCO Centre all those years ago.

Lots of interesting things could be found at George’s stall. People loved to gather around it and have a chat with him and he was always willing to share his passion for fixing things with anyone who asked.

''Now reunited with his beloved Kathleen, the world feels the loss of a good, kind, creative man who knew his own mind. On behalf of the READY organisation, we extend our sympathy to George’s family, relatives, friends and neighbours, and to all who were lucky enough to cross his path. Farewell George, and fly high with angels.''

George passed peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff in Esker RÍ Nursing Home, Clara, surrounded by his loving family. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Kathleen, parents Laurence and Elizabeth and his 12 brothers and sisters Dora, Elizabeth, Jack, Michael, Mary-Jane, Larry, Bridgie, Nellie, Simon, Veronica, Bernie and Stephen.

George will be sadly missed by his loving family Michael, Georgina, Teresa and Kieron, sons in law Barty and Steven, daughters in law Dolores and Sylvia, his adored grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and his many life long friends.
