Shane Lowry in group with Ryder Cup team mates for opening round of US Open
Shane Lowry will be in a group with two of his Ryder Cup teammates for the first two rounds of the US Open which tees off on Thursday.
The Offaly golfer will tee off at 12.40pm Irish time on Thursday in Pennsylvania alongside Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose. The trio will tee off on the tenth hole on Thursday.
On Friday, they will be back on course at 6.25pm Irish time and will tee off on the first hole.
The US Open is seen as golf's toughest major and the course at Oakmont is set to be a real challenge with reports that the green speed will be between 14’ 5” and 14’ 9” on the Stimpmeter and that the primary rough is dense and uniform at five inches in length.
Shane Lowry comes into the week off the back of another strong finish at the Canadian Open. He briefly led after a storming start to his final round before eventually finishing in a tie for 13th.
He also came very close to a hole in one in Canada.
