The MACE store in Clara is in for a major revamp

A significant redevelopment is planned for the Mace store in Clara, with an application set to be lodged shortly with Offaly County Council.

The proposal, put forward by Lambe’s Oil Limited, outlines a major extension into part of adjoining stores, transforming the space with a new deli, upgraded staff and toilet facilities, expanded storage, and a relocated shop entrance.

Additional works include PV roof panels, modified fire escapes, a redesigned parapet with new signage, and changes to the off-licence stairwell. The project also features external upgrades: demolition of a single-storey structure, creation of 17 car parking spaces including an EV charging points, new loading bay, widened access onto Bridge Street, and a dedicated bin and bike storage area.

The development is within the curtilage of two protected structures, but no changes are proposed to these buildings.

The proposal for Charlestown, Kilbeggan Road, is to enhance its service offering and accessibility.
