Peader, Sharavogue passed away on October 31 2023 after a two year battle with cancer.

Peadar's family organised a fundraiser to say ‘thank you’ to the staff of Tullamore Regional Hospital who looked after him so well for the last few weeks of his life. A total of €23,565 was presented to the Friends of the Hospital recently.

In a letter sent to the Tribune the family said that, “following the completion of our fundraising efforts, the O’Meara family were delighted and honoured to be able to make a presentation of funds raised totalling €23,565 to the Friends of the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore. The loss of our beautiful Peadar, a son, husband, father, brother, friend and nephew has been immense and at times hardly credible.

“Unfortunately our loss meant that we experienced first-hand this incredible organisation who are dedicated to enhancing patient care, supporting families and hospital staff, and improving facilities.

“The work they do makes a real difference in the lives of countless individuals and families, and we were so appreciative of the facilities and the care that was taken of Peadar while he was in hospital. As a family we are very proud to be able to support this charity.

“We raised these funds through our charity Bridge Event last November, with the help of family and friends, the Birr Bridge Club, community support and through local business sponsorship.

“We want to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this possible, whether you donated, participated in our fundraising efforts, sold tickets for our draw, took part in our Bridge Charity event or simply helped spread the word, your generosity and support were so appreciated.

“We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to Triona and the staff of the County Arms.

“We know that the money raised will be put to good use.

“Thank you to the Friends of Midland Regional Hospital for your unwavering dedication to patients and their families.”
