Shane Lowry jumps up Official World Golf Rankings after another top ten finish on PGA Tour
Shane Lowry has jumped up the latest Official World Golf Rankings after another top ten finish on the PGA Tour.
The Offaly golfer finished in a tie for eighth after a one under final round finishing just three shots off the eventual winner at the Valspar Championship.
The result has jumped Shane from 15th up to 12th in the latest World Rankings after a very successful Florida swing on the PGA Tour. It is his highest ever spot in the rankings having come into the year ranked at number 27.
He has recorded three top ten finishes on the PGA Tour in February and March and he also recorded an 11th place finish and a 20th place finish at The Players Championship.
Shane is also currently 12th in the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup standings and he is currently fourth in the European Ryder Cup team standings with six set to qualify automatically.
The Valspar Championship was won in dramatic fashion by Shane's 2023 Ryder Cup team-mate Viktor Hovland who finished strong to overtake Justin Thomas in the final three holes to claim the title. The Norwegian birdied 16 and 17 as Thomas dropped back and even had the luxury of being able to bogey the last to still claim the the win.
The PGA Tour moves on to Texas this week but Shane will not be in action. The first Major of the year, The Masters at Augusta, is just around the corner from April 10 to April 13.
