A vibrant display of golden daffodils, recently in full bloom along the bank of the canal at Convent View in Tullamore, appear to have been deliberately cut or trampled on, leaving a scene of destruction where beauty once flourished.

The flowers, planted by the dedicated volunteers of Tullamore Tidy Towns, had been widely admired but are now reduced to nothing.

While daffodils on the opposite side of the canal remain untouched, this will be a major blow to the Tidy Towns Committee whose tireless efforts to enhance Tullamore's beauty are marred by this senseless act.

The group which meets each Sunday morning at 8.30am to maintain and improve the town's environment will no doubt remain committed despite this setback.

This disheartening incident raises concerns about respect for public spaces and the hard work of community volunteers. Anyone with information about the damage is encouraged to come forward.
