Court appearance after drugs and cash found in shed in Tullamore
A TOTAL of €690 worth of cannabis and €2,690 in cash was discovered by the Gardai when searching a shed in Tullamore, a recent sitting of Tullamore District Court was told.
Josh Rigney, 28 Church View, Tullamore pleaded guilty to being in possession of an illegal drug on November 2 2024 at 28 Church View, Tullamore.
Sergeant Brendan Kearns pointed out that Mr Rigney had one previous conviction, which was also illegal drug possession.
The defending solicitor Patrick Martin told the court that his client is 21 years of age and had had “difficulties with drugs in the past” and is currently doing a Community Employment Scheme with Merchant's Quay.
“His drug issue has improved because he is genuinely trying to get on top of it. He has also pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
"It's also important to point out that he is not selling or supplying drugs in any way. The cash in the shed came from the collection of bonus social welfare payments over a long period of time.”
Judge Susan Fay remanded on continuing bail to June 4 next and asked for a Probation Officer's Report on that date.
