Tullamore man drove away from filling stations without paying on five occasions
A TULLAMORE man pleaded guilty to stealing diesel from filling stations on a number of occasions, during the February 5 sitting of Tullamore District Court.
Mark White, Glaskill, Screggan, Tullamore stole €30 of diesel from Circle K, Arden Road Tullamore, on July 21 last. He also stole €10 of diesel from Applegreen Service Station, Axis Business Park, Tullamore on October 20 last, and stole €50 of diesel from the same filling station on May 29, 2024.
Mr White was charged was well with stealing property worth €20 from Mace, Cappincur, Tullamore, and property worth €50 from Circle K, Arden Road, Tullamore.
Sergeant Brendan Kearns said the defendant had one previous conviction.
The defending solicitor Brian Duffy told the court that his client is 41 years of age and suffers from depression.
“At the time when these offences occurred,” remarked Mr Duffy, “because he was suffering from depression Mr White had disengaged from all supports in his life. Now thankfully he has reconnected with those supports. He was also homeless during the period of the offences. When he took the diesel he had every intention of subsequently returning to the filling stations and paying them, but he never got around to it.”
Judge Susan Fay convicted and fined €200.
