Gardaí appeal for witnesses of Laois house fire

Gardaí in Portlaoise are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred at a residence in the Ard Erin housing estate, Mountrath, shortly after midnight on Friday February 7, 2025.

A set of kitchen curtains caught fire shortly after midnight, with Gardaí investigating the cause of the fire.
The activation of a smoke alarm woke house residents in time, with no injuries reported.
Gardaí are investigating this incident, and ask anyone in the Ard Erin area that may have witnessed suspicious activity to come forward.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around this time to come forward,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“If you have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell camera footage that may be of assistance, we would like to hear from you.
“Your information could be vital in assisting our investigation. Thank you for your help,” they finished.
