'A gentleman of great character' - Sadness following unexpected death of popular Offaly man

Aidan (Ned) Fennessy passed away on Sunday

Tributes have poured in following the sad and unexpected death of popular Offaly man, Aidan (Ned) Fennessy, late of Fr. Killian Crescent in Edenderry.

Ned passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, surrounded by his loving brothers and sister, under the care of the staff in the I.C.U. at Tullamore hospital.

He is predeceased by his loving parents Eamon and Judy and his brother Tom (Fido).

Ned will be very sadly missed by his loving family: John, Niall, Eugene, Paul, Susan, Brian, nieces, nephews, aunt Rosie, cousins, in-laws, extended family and his many friends.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Ned, with one mourner saying, 

"My sincere condolences to all the Fennessy family on your great loss, Ned was a wonderful family friend, pure gentleman, we have many wonderful memories of great times. Rest Peacefully Ned."

Another wrote,

"Sorry to hear such sad news of Ned passing away. A Gentleman, great character, great memories down through the years. He will be sadly missed."

While another wrote,

"Shocked to hear of Neds sudden passing. Our deepest sympathy to all the Fennessy family, and to all Ned’s neighbours and many dear friends. Ned was just someone you loved to be with, and rest assured the time spent with him would always end with a song. We will never forget you Ned, may your Beautiful Soul Rest in Eternal Peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Aidan will repose at Larkin's Funeral Home, Edenderry this Thursday from 6pm to 8pm with Rosary at 8pm.

His Funeral Mass will take place on Friday at 12 noon in St. Mary's Church, Edenderry followed by burial in St. Mary's cemetery.
