Tributes pour in for beloved Offaly woman following her untimely passing

Tributes have been pouring in for Mary McLellan (nee O’Brien) of Banagher Co Offaly following her passing on Thursday, January 23, in Aberdeen after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Messages of condolences and memories of Mary were shared by many who knew her on her rip.ie page. Her friendship, joyfulness and young spirit were encapsulated in each tribute, a legacy left from a life well lived in the time she had.

An old friend said: "I am so very sorry to hear this sad news. I have very fond memories of Mary & her sisters from our school days in Garbally N.S. May Mary rest in eternal peace"

Another friend wrote: "She was such a good friend in our years at LSU and we had such a joyous time as we navigated life in our teenage years . Such fond and happy moments, and I am sure this continued throughout her life and touched all who knew her.

"Sending love and gratitude that I have had the opportunity to have been a part of her life and her mine."

Another person said: "Great memories of her down years, always a joy to meet, may her Gentle soul rest in peace."

Mary’s kindness, strength, and love will be forever cherished by her daughter Kirsty, son in law Lee, and her adored grandchildren Ollie and Spencer. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings Judy, Annette, and Declan; her nephews Patrick, Stuart, Kyle, and Brent; and her brother-in-law Tommy.

Funeral is to be held at Hazelhead West Crematorium, February 3, 2025 at 11:15am. Family flowers only please.
