Motorist in Offaly fraudulently used a motor tax disc
A MAN with an address in Rathcabbin pleaded guilty to fraudulently using a tax disc during last week's Tullamore Court session.
Emil Grzeskiewicz, Roughan, Rathcabbin, Co. Tipperary, committed the offence at Drumbane, Birr on the 16th of July last. He also pleaded guilty to having no road tax.
Garda Brendan Mulvey from Birr Garda Station told the Judge that on the date in question his Mobility App notified him that Mr Grzeskiewicz had no tax. The App also told him that the tax had expired since December 2023.
“The disc had been taken from a different vehicle and said March 2024,” Garda Mulvey pointed out.
Giving evidence, Mr Grzeskiewicz apologised for his act and said it was “a stupid thing to do.” He added that “Since I came to Ireland 20 years ago I have never been in trouble of any sort.”
He said his financial situation became precarious three years ago and he lost his house.
Judge Andrew Cody convicted and fined €200 for having no road tax, and took into consideration the other offence.
