Offaly County Council has given the go ahead for a large floating jetty on the River Shannon in Offaly.

Waterways Ireland applied for permission from Offaly County Council for the floating jetty in Shannonbridge.

The plans are for 108m of floating jetty along with ramped section and a lower, freeboard for canoe access.

It will be anchored by steel piles with access ramp and will be anchored to a 2.5m square concrete plinth.

There are also plans for a 1.5m wide new access path.

Offaly County Council has granted planning permission with three conditions attached.
