Offaly rail workers were recognised and awarded at this year’s Iarnród Éireann Customer Experience awards.

Nominations for the awards typically just come from co-workers, but this year also featured a new award up for grabs, 'The People’s Choice Award', where nominations came from customers.

The awards, now in its second year, aims to recognise excellence in all aspects of service that is provided to rail customers in Offaly and across the country.

The event recognises excellence in customer experience in all aspects of service that is provided to rail customers.

JP Moloney, from Tullamore Station, was a finalist in the 'In Station' category.

JP’s nominator said, “JP is a great asset to Tullamore. He always puts everyone ahead of himself and looks for the best interests of customers with his excellent customer service. He is always kind and always has as smile. After recently moving from another station, their loss is most definitely our gain!”

Involved with the event, 'TRY A TRADE', it was a fantastic way for 4th,5th, and, 6th year secondary school students to get hands on experience in electrical, mechanical and fitter trades, along with interacting with different areas within Iarnród Éireann.

This year over 1,000 students attended over the four-day event at Inchicore Railway Works in Dublin.

Speaking at the event, Jim Meade, CEO of Iarnród Éireann, said, “One of Iarnród Éireann’s core values is, customers at the heart of our business. All nominees and winners here today truly espouse that value and you should be very proud of the excellent way you serve our customers.”
