Criminal damage valued at over €6,360 was allegedly caused to a car by a man in Kilcormac.

John Davis (56), Mooney Terrace, Kilcormac appeared at Tullamore District Court which heard he made no reply when arrested, charged and cautioned.

Garda Brendan J Mulvey said the value of the alleged damage was €6,363.

Aisling Maloney, defending solicitor, applied for disclosure of evidence and Sergeant Brendan Kearns said bail would be conditional on the accused not having any contact with the alleged injured party.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded Mr Davis, who is on legal aid, on bail to appear in court again on December 4 next.

Judge Cody ordered that if a plea is not entered a hearing will take place in court on January 6 next.

It is alleged that on July 17 last at Mooney Terrace the accused man produced an article believed to be a hatchet and damaged the rear side panel and window of a Volkswagen Golf.
