Warning issued by gardaí in the Midlands over tradesmen offering to tar driveways

Gardaí in the Midlands have urged people to be cautious over tradesmen offering to tar driveways around Longford town. 

The public have been urged not to engage with these people unless they know they are reputable. 

They have also issued a warning to people in Ballinalee and surrounding areas to be careful. 

Commenting on the social media post from gardaí, one person commented: "Ask them for their liability insurance and tax clearance certificate and watch them disappear rapidly".

National garda advice is if you suspect that bogus callers or trades people are in your area and appear suspicious or are working in a vulnerable neighbour’s home – never hesitate in contacting the Gardaí immediately.

"Genuine trades people will not be offended by any enquiries the Gardaí may make and, indeed, usually welcome them," the garda advice outlines.
