Met Eireann upgrades Thunderstorm Warning to almost all of Ireland with heavy downpours forecast
Met Eireann has upgraded its Status Yellow Thunderstorm Warning to almost all of Ireland with heavy downpours forecast throughout the day up to 10pm tonight and has issued a Status Orange Warning for five counties.
As of 1.30pm on Tuesday, Met Eireann had issued a Status Yellow Thunderstorm Warning for all counties except Kerry.
Met Eireann is warning that there will be heavy downpours and thunderstorms with potential impacts including spot flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility. The warning remains in place until 10pm
A separate Status Orange Thunderstorm Warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Tipperary and Waterford has been issued this afternoon. It warns of possible flash flooding, potential damage to power lines and very difficult travelling conditions. It is in place until 8pm.
There is also a separate Status Yellow Thunderstorm Warning for all of Northern Ireland which was issued by the UK Met Office. That warning remains in place until 9pm.
