A section of the Grand Canal Greenway in Offaly is closed this week for 'essential works'

Offaly County Council has advised Greenway users of the temporary closure from Monday, March 11 to Saturday, March 16.

The closure is to facilitate Waterways Ireland in carrying out essential maintenance on the canal bank.

The walkway will be closed to the public during this period from the 28th lock on the Grand Canal at Srah, Tullamore for a distance of 1km to the west.

Local access arrangements and diversions will be in place.

Offaly County Council and Waterways Ireland say they apologise for any inconvenience caused.
