Elderly man dies following fall in the Midlands
A man has died as a result of a fall in the Midlands.
The incident occurred in the Ballacolla area on Laois on Monday.
It’s believed the man who was in his early 70s sustained head injuries in a fall from a ladder.
He was airlifted to hospital but didn’t survive.
Local Councillor Ollie Clooney said the death has cast a dark shadow over the area.
He said the man “would help anyone” and was well liked in the area.
“We are all numbed, that’s what we are, we are numbed,” he said.
Cllr Clooney said the man was a hard worker from a very decent family and the community would rally around his family.
