Man in court in Tullamore accused of having crowbar while causing €9,000 worth of damage to house

A MAN accused of damaging a house brought €9,114 in compensation to Tullamore District Court.

Judge Andrew Cody was told by the solicitor for Martin Gallagher (57), Rathgarret, Tore, Tyrrellspass that “a certain course will be taken” by his client at a later court appearance.

Mr Gallagher is accused of damaging windows, French door windows and a rear door panel belonging to a woman at Clonfad, Dalystown, Mullingar on April 26 last. The damage was valued at €9,114.

He also faces a charge under the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act of producing a black crowbar on the same occasion.

Evidence of arrest, charge and caution on the crowbar charge was given by Garda Stacey O'Brien and she also told the court the DPP had directed that the prosecution could be disposed of summarily, but only in the event of a guilty plea.

Mr Gallagher is on bail and the prosecution was adjourned to October 18 next for disclosure of evidence to the defence.
