Man arrested after large drugs seizure in Offaly

A man was arrested in Offaly today after a large drugs seizure.

As part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue officers seized approximately 495 grams of methamphetamine and 487 grams of mephedrone, with an estimated combined value of €53,400 in the county.

The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Offaly Divisional Drugs Unit.

A man in his 50s was arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in County Offaly.

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
