ON Wednesday July 5 EU Commissioner Mairead McGuinness welcomed a group of 22 Irish primary school teachers to the European Commission in Brussels.
Among them was Claire Gorman a teacher in Shinrone NS pictured on the right above.
The teachers participate in the Blue Star Programme, teaching Irish primary school children all about the EU in a fun and interactive way.
This was part of a study visit organised by the European Commission Representation in Ireland, in partnership with the European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland, and the European Movement Ireland.
It also included a day of seminars with officials in the European Commission, a meeting with Irish MEPs, and a visit to Ireland’s Permanent Representation to the EU.
The Blue Star Programme is an initiative of the Irish Government, supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament. It is managed by the European Movement Ireland.
