Part of major road through Offaly to close for three months for replacement of road surface
Part of a major road through Offaly is set to close for three months for replacement of the road surface starting in July.
Offaly County Council has given notice that the N62 will close between Cloghan and Birr for a three month period (or part thereof) beginning in July.
The council says the the road closure is necessary to facilitate the removal and replacement of road pavement and accommodation works.
Diversions will be put in place for the duration of the works.
Traffic travelling North on the N62 will divert at Birr at Pound Street via L-70065 onto Taylors Cross via R-439 and onto Cloghan Village via R438 and then to continue North on N62.
Traffic travelling South on N62 will divert south of Cloghan Village via the R438 onto Taylors Cross via R-439 onto Pound Street via L-70065 and then to continue South on N62.
The HGV Diversion Route will bring vehicles via Tullamore, M6 Junction 8 to Junction 5 and N52 northbound and southbound.
All diversion routes will be sign posted.
Offaly County Council says it regrets any inconvenience to road users.
