Plans blocked for houses on land adjacent to pub in Offaly
Plans to build houses on lands adjacent to a pub in Offaly have been blocked by Offaly County Council.
A planning application had been lodged with Offaly County Council to construct seven houses on land beside Richie's Bar in Clonbullogue. Each was planned to be a three-bedroomed, two-storey unit.
Offaly County Council rejected the plans on four grounds.
In its reasons for refusing permission, the local authority says the plans represent 'an over-development of the subject site' given its location at the edge of a small village setting.
Offaly County Council also says the proposed development would present 'an inappropriate design response for the site'
It also says that part of the site is located outside the Clonbullogue Development Boundary and is in the open countryside.
Finally the council says the proposed development risks creating a traffic hazard and is therefore contrary to proper planning.
