The count centre at Presentation Convent Secondary School in Thurles
All ballot boxes for the North Tipperary three-seater have been opened and the 100% tally results indicate a surge ahead for sitting Independent Michael Lowry, followed by sitting Labour TD Alan Kelly and Fianna Fáil's first time candidate, Ryan O'Meara.
14 candidates campaigned for one of three seats with160 ballot boxes opened and a projected turnout of 44,528 (63.42%).
The quota for election is projected to be 11,120 (25%).
Staff in the Tipperary count centre in Presentation Convent Secondary School in Thurles are now sorting ballots and the results of the first count are expected at approximately 8pm.
The final tally figures are as follows:
Lowry (IND) 27.6%
Kelly (Labour) 15.4%
O’Meara (FF) 12.5%
Smith (FF) 10.7%
Bugler (FG) 9.7%
Ryan (IND) 8.2%
Harty (SF) 6.5%
Barry (SF) 2.7%
O’Toole (AON) 1.8%
Pocock (GP) 1.6%
O’Dwyer (PBP) 1.3%
Madden (IP) 0.9%
Minehan (IND) 0.3%
Phelan (IND) 0.4%
