Hynes School Of Motoring Minor Camogie

St.Rynaghs 1-9 Shinrone 1-5

St.Rynaghs booked their Hynes School Of Motoring Minor final place following a four-point win over Shinrone in Dr. Kelly’s field, Tullamore last Saturday afternoon.

Kate Kenny was the key player for St.Rynaghs as the camogie player of the year scored 1-7 from placed balls and from frees.

The current senior champions breezed into an early lead with a point from Kenny which was quickly answered by Ciara Sammon.

However, Kenny, being the most influential player of the game, would score 1-3 in the next ten minutes, two of these scores from play and raising the green flag from a penalty.

Shinrone’s Eilish Gleeson added their second point from a free but this was all the red and white would score in the first half. Kate Kenny and Sinead Hanamy added two points to make it 1-6 to 0-2 at the half time break.

Aided with a strong breeze in the second half, Shinrone did their utmost to pull the game back in their favour. Kate Bergin put six points between the teams after the half time break but namesake Kate Kenny answered this with two placed balls to extend St.Rynagh's lead once again.

Orla Maher added two points from play for Shinrone, however, Louise Mannion pointed in the final minutes to ensure St. Rynaghs were in control of the game.

A late burst from Shinrone saw Ava Maloney raise the green flag for Shinrone bu it was too late for the red and whites and St.Rynaghs march onto the final against Lusmagh/Drumcullen on March 3 with four points to spare.
