MATCH REPORT: Cool Killeigh claim Cumann na mBunscol title over Philomena's

It was a super performance from the Killeigh girls

3:30pm (Thursday, May 17) Camogie Group B Final Killeigh N.S. vs St Philomena’s N.S.

Killeigh N.S 5-6

St Philomena’s N.S. 0-2

Killeigh had a real midfield presence in the shape of Jane Murray and Tara Cleary in this one and St. Philomena's found it hard to get to grips with their physicality.

Philomena's got the first point through Emma Molloy but then Killeigh took over with Jane Murray hitting three unanswered points between the 5th and 10th minutes.

A five-minute spell saw Philomena's battle hard in midfield, keeping Killeigh scoreless until the 16th minute when Tara Cleary raised a white flag, followed quickly by a point from Jane Murray, her fourth of the game after just 18 minutes.

St. Philomena's did get on the scoresheet again in the first half thanks to an Emma Dumpleton free, but Killeigh finished with a brace of goals from Aisling Nunan and Mollie Kelly to earn a 2-5 to 0-2 lead at the break.

St. Philomena's defended better in the second half but Killeigh were still punching holes and grabbed three goals in four minutes early in the second period to put a comebac k beyond Philomena's. Olivia Dempsey, Alannah Kelly and Jane Murray all raised green flags during that purple patch.

Tara Cleary finished the afternoon's scoring with a point on 38 minutes for Killeigh. The game went without a score for the final 12 minutes but Killeigh were happy enough as they emerged as 5-6 to 0-2 winners in O'Connor Park.
