2:15 p.m (Wednesday, May 16) Boys Football Group E Final Geashill N.S. vs Cloneygowan N.S.

Geashill N.S 0-13

Cloneygowan 6-6

A future star was on show here in the shape of Geashill's Kevin Sweeney and his talent was apparent from the first minute as he fired over a brilliant point. However, Cloneygowan were equally a brilliant team and they combined well for an early reply from George Moore.

Sweeney converted a free after six minutes to put Geashill back in front but Cloneygowan once again gave as good as they got with two excellent points from Adam Carthy and George Moore.

Another Sweeney free levelled the game as a real battle ensued in O'Connor Park. Geashill briefly hit the front through James Buckley before a Céin Gorman point and Danny Gorman goal turned the game on its head.

Kevin Sweeney scored two more points late in the half but an Adam Carthy point late on ensured Cloneygowan went in at the break with a narrow lead, 1-5 to 0-6.

The tables looked to have turned again in the first ten minutes of the second half as the exceptional Kevin Sweeney fired over four points without reply to put Geashill into a 0-10 to 1-5 lead.

However, Cloneygowan's goal threat was ever present and on 35 minutes, Danny Gorman raised his second green flag of the game. Sweeney once again levelled the game soon after but an Adam Carthy goal came as a hammer blow on 37 minutes.

With goals only worth two points, Ryan Mulpeter and Danny Gorman's trading of points left the sides level again at 3-6 to 0-12 before Gorman nailed his hat-trick to put Cloneygowan back in control.

With less than five minutes to go, Adam Carthy hammered to the net once more to leave four between the teams, 5-6 to 0-12. Another Kevin Sweeney free wasn't enough as George Moore fired to the net for a final time for Cloneygowan, putting an end to Geashill's brave challenge. Cloneygowan won out on a 6-6 to 0-13 scoreline, a five-point victory.
