Offaly GAA has taken the decision to defer the start of the U15 hurling and football championships until after the 2018 State exams.

In a statement, they said: "Following requests received from clubs expressing concern over U15 championship games being fixed close to and during the junior cert exams, it has been decided to defer the start of both the U15 hurling and football championships until exams are completed."

"Due to this decision the U13 hurling and football championships will now commence with hurling being played on a Monday night and Football on Friday night," the statement continued.

The hurling will commence on Monday, May 21 and the football on Friday, May 25 and run concurrently thereafter.

An U13 fixtures list will be issued in the next few days.
