Rhode GAA Dinner Dance 

To Celebrate Rhode Senior Footballers collecting their 28th Senior Football Title and the Offaly Division 1 League, we are delighted to announce the Presentation of Medals will take place on Saturday the 17th of February 2018 in the Bloomfield House Hotel @7:30pm.

Master of ceremonies: Offaly Hurling Legend and Sunday Game Analyst Michael Duignan. Michael adds a bit of class to proceedings with Sunday Game type interviews with players, management and club representatives.  

We are delighted to announce our special guest for our night of celebration is Monaghan player Conor McManus

Tickets will also be sold at our weekly lotto draw on Monday, February 12 from 8pm to 9:30pm in Killeens Lounge, Tuesday, February 13 in Doyles Lounge from 8pm to 9:30pm & Wednesday, February 14 in Killeen's Lounge from 8pm to 9:30pm. 

Rhode GAA Transformation 

Monday, February 12, started the 6th and final week of Rhode GAA Transformation and by now most of us can see and feel the benefits of our efforts. It's great to see so many at the classes and making use of the walking track in our GAA grounds. It has been a great journey and we hope that you all got a little something out of it to help you continue in your road to a healthier lifestyle.

Monday's talk was from footballer Niall McNamee and Rhode joint manager Jack Cooney. Niall spoke about health and wellbeing and the importance of having a healthy mind healthy body. Jack's background is sports performance and enhancement, and he gave us some practical tips and advice on the best way forward after the programme comes to an end.

St. Patrick's Day Parade 

We are currently planning our 2nd Annual St. Patrick's Parade which will take on St. Patrick's Day leaving from Fr. Dowling park,  last year's parade was fantastic and this year's is promising to be an even better one with a visit from RTE organised. We are looking for businesses, clubs and organisations to submit a float for the parade as we would love to make this year's event even more colourful and creative than last years please put your thinking caps on and get involved. Rhode Seniors take on Edenderry in Edenderry on Saturday, February 17 at 3.30pm. 

Leinster GAA Cross County League

Rhode U13s travelled to Dublin on Sunday morning last where they lost out to St. Pat's of Donaghmeade on a score-line of 6-9 to 3-09.

Rhode U13s  will play St. Colmcille's  of Meath on Saturday, February 24 in Fr.Dowling Park Rhode. 

Club Membership

Membership is now due and can be paid to the following membership officers listed, Patricia McManus, Orla Kilmurray, Ger Noonan, Ger Hynes, Pat FitzGerald, Joe Malone, Oliver Murphy, Jody Kilmurray, James Murphy , John Glennon ,Tracey Murphy , Robert Kellaghan and Mary Hannon  up to March 1, 2018. 

The Membership Rates are as Follows:

Player ( including Insurance) - €75

Family (2 adults and all Children) -  €75

Single Adult - €30

Student /student player - €20

Juvenile - €20

OAPs - €5

2018 Ròd Bord na nÒg teams registration evening

Our registration evening will take place Friday, February 16 in Rhode Hall at 7.00pm. All players from Rhode Warriors to U16s are asked to attend. 

Juvenile - €20

Family (2 adults and all Children)-  €75

All age grades are asked to attend as we need to update player information and it is essential for insurance purposes. Players from neighboring clubs Croghan and Clonmore are asked to attend also but to register with their home club first and just provide contact information to Rod Òg - no contribution is required. Leinster Champion

Massive Congratulations to David Hope who was crowned Leinster champion on Saturday evening last defeating Daniel Kavanagh of Wexford in the 40x20 Leinster Intermediate Final.

Massive Congratulations to our Club Chairman Joe Malone and Sarah McNamee on their engagement in Paris last Monday. Sarah and Joe celebrated with family and friends on Friday night last in Doyle's. A great night was had by all. 

Lotto 

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on February 5 for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 18 24 27 28.  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Dolye’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation. The following matched three numbers and received €50 each.

The Rhode GAA Lotto is the main source of income the club has and now you can play online through our website.  The good news is when you play the lotto online you are entitled to free draws, for example, pay for seven draws, receive the eighth one free, pay for fourteen draws receive two free and so on.  In other words, the more you play the more free draws you are entitled to.

Get well

Get well wishes are extended to all of the people of the parish who are ill or hospitalised at the moment.

Ballycumber GAA Club

Football

In a change to last week’s announcement, Ballycumber will start this year’s Division 2 League campaign with a home game against Bracknagh on Saturday at 3.30pm. All support would be welcome.

History

Ballycumber GAA History Group wish to thank the many people who have provided information about some of the 72 men from this area who fought in World War 1. There are still a number of men of whom we have no information. If there is a medal or a newspaper cutting in a drawer please let us photograph it. Any small piece of detail would help us continue our research.

Lotto

The numbers drawn this week’s were 1,10,11,26. No jackpot winner, two match three winners. Next week’s draw will be held in Flynn’s of Grogan on Monday night at 10 o’clock for a jackpot of 6400 euros.

Play lotto on line at www.locallotto.ie until 8pm on Monday or buy tickets from local shops, pubs and from usual lotto sellers.

Walking Track

The walking track around the pitch is for use of members of Ballycumber GAA Club only.

Membership fees for this year will shortly be collected and all members and new members are asked to pay their membership fee before March 31.

To comply with insurance regulations, the main gate to the grounds must be closed at all times, except when the grounds are in use for training or matches.

If you open the gate, make sure it is closed when you are finished.

GAA National Club Draw 2018 tickets

The Club are very thankful to all who bought a ticket in this nationwide draw. The draw will be held on Thursday 8th March 2018. Best of luck.

Dance Classes

Dance Classes will continue in Ballycumber Community Centre every Monday night. The class starts at 8pm for beginners and continues at 9pm for intermediates. There will be dancing for all from 10pm until 11pm. The Dance Instructor is Christopher Beirne.

Juvenile

Hurling

Indoor hurling for U11yrs down every Thursday evening in Portarlington GAA hall, from 7pm to 8pm. U12\U13\U14 hurling training every Friday night at the Astro pitches beside the Leisure Centre, from 7pm to 8pm. New players are welcome, hurls and helmets provided.

Football

Indoor Football for U9yrs down every Monday eve in Portarlington GAA hall, from 7pm to 8pm. Skills Development Course for football players 12, 13 and 14yrs old, every Mon night in the Portarlington Community Centre from 7pm to 8pm. U17 Football Training takes place on Mon and Fri evenings from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. New and returning players very welcome.

Quiz Night

Please come along to our first Fund Raising event of the year. We are holding a Table Quiz in The Hawthorn Bar on at March 3 at 9pm. All proceeds go towards the running of the club for both Adults and Juveniles. Table of 4 is €40 and there will be plenty of Spot Prizes on the night. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
