Offaly Camogie coaches take part in development workshop
Offaly coaches have taken part in a Communication and Building Rapport with Players Workshop in Birr, the second in a series.
This player retention initiative took place on Monday, November 13, in Birr, where 18 coaches from Offaly, Tipperary and Galway participated in the workshop on ‘Communication and Building Rapport with Players’.
This workshop is aimed at coaches at all levels from under 8 up to adult levels. The workshop looks at the importance of communication and building rapport with players with the aim of retaining them in the sport of Camogie.
This workshop gets coaches thinking about what message they send to their players as a coach and what style of communication they use.
Peter Casey from Clare is tutoring on the workshops and is a member of the Camogie Player Retention Working Group. Offaly coaches took part to further the work being done in the county to improve camogie players and training methods.
Elsewhere, a foundation coaching course took place in Kilcormac/Killoughey last month. A total of 15 coaches completed the course under the guidance of Camogie tutor Liz Byrne.
