Rod Og Minor Club Awards Night
Over 200 men, women and children packed into Rhode Hall to celebrate the hard work done by our underage players and management through 2017 also celebrating the wonderful achievements of the boys and girls Parish school teams winning their respective Cumann na mBunscol Championships.
There was plenty of Silverware on display on the night with the Dowling and Casey Cups Joining the Cumann na mBunscol Cups on stage.
Making the presentation on the night were members of the Senior Team. Each team was brought up by their age groups to rapturous applause by proud parents and club coaches and officials. The Cumann na mBunscol Championship winning teams were then brought up and presented with their medals to massive applause which was a wonderful way to mark these great wins in 2017.
Speakers on the night were Minor Club Chairman Stephen Darby and Senior Club Chairman Joe Malone. Both men spoke of the great work done through out 2017 at under-age level expressing a massive thanks to parents and especially all coaches involved in training our teams. They congratulated both the boys and girls Cumann na mBunscol Championship winning teams praising the work been done by teachers in the three schools. Stephen went on to speak of the victorious Senior team winning the Dowling cup and been top of the pile in Offaly along with winning the Casey cup which has a special place in the club. Stephen thanked the adult club, main sponsors Eden Decor John and Orla Kilmurray, Under-age jersey sponsors and those who supported the club in anyway giving a special mention to Peter Moore for giving the under-age club a free slot for the Croghan Hill Challenge. Also Mentioning a great Rhode supporter Paddy Stones in Boston who sponsored our U,8 Jerseys this year. Finishing off Stephen thanked everyone for coming and thanked them for making it a very successful evening inviting them to enjoy the refreshments supplied.
A special thanks to all involved in organising a great evening a special mention to Minor secretary Tracey Murphy for her hard work on the day and throughout the year. Thanks also to the local media for been present and also to Declan Cox for the sound system.
Senior Management Appointment
Chairman Joe Malone can confirm that the executive committee of Rhode GAA have excepted the proposal of Jack Cooney & Declan Gorman as Joint Rhode Senior Managers following a recommendation from the management selection committee.
The 129th AGM of Rhode GAA Club will take place Friday, December 1 in Rhode GAA Hall at 8pm Sharp. All Members and Intending Members are requested to attend. The AGM is an important part of the Clubs calendar where all aspects of the clubs activities for 2017 will be up for discussion. All attending the meeting will be requested to sign on arrival with club registrar Ger Noonan and membership for 2018 will be taken on the night and we would request members to do so.

Offaly Minor Trials
We are delighted to have a number of our Rod Og players currently taking part in Offaly Trials and wish them the very best in their endeavours to represent both club and county.

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 20th of November for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 2 4 7 17. The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Killeen’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation. The following matched three numbers and received €35 each.

The Rhode GAA Lotto is the main source of income the club has and now you can play online through our website. The good news is when you play the lotto online you are entitled to free draws, for example, pay for seven draws, receive the eighth one free, pay for fourteen draws receive two free and so on. In other words, the more you play the more free draws you are entitled to.
