A copy of ”A Walkers Guide to Ballycumber Past” would make an ideal Christmas Gift for natives of Ballycumber who are no longer living locally. The book is available from Maureen in the Post Office in Gussies, from Peter Flynn in Flynn’s of Grogan and from Committee members at €10.
The members of Ballycumber GAA History Group are delighted with the photographs and documents they have received so far. All photos have been copied and returned to their owner. More information on historic events and locations in Moorock, Bellair, Boher, Castlearmstrong and Leamonaghan is required and can be given to History Group members.
The Leinster Final defeat was disappointing, but, should not cloud what has been a wonderful year for players, management and supporters.
Ballycumber’s Demesnes, Follies and Families feature in a book by Rachel McKenna entitled Flights of Fancy, Follies, Families and Demesnes in Offaly. The book was launched in Birr Castle on Friday evening by Jane Maxwell from Trinity College. Jane has strong Ballycumber connections, she is married to Matt Delaney, Grogan. Copies of the book at €30 are on sale in Gussies Supermarket and from Offaly History, Bury Quay, Tullamore.
