Offaly Senior Hurling semi-final
Eoghan Cahill was the main man for Birr as he scored 1-8 in the opening half as Birr built a 1-11 to 0-6 lead.
After the sides exchanged a point apiece, Cahill struck for a goal that put Birr into a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.
The sides continued to exchange points for the next ten minutes with Colm Coughlan keeping the scoreboard ticking over for Kinnitty.
An Eoin Callaghan point got Kinnitty within one midway through the half but Birr hit the next five points, three from Eoghan Cahill and one apiece for Emmett Nolan and Colm Mulrooney to move six ahead after 26 minutes.
Colm Coughlan briefly arrested the slide with a point for Kinnitty but Eoghan Cahill continued his scoring spree and Birr went to the break with a six point lead.
Colm Coughlan got Kinnitty back within six at the start of the second-half as Kinnitty hit three of the first four points but that would be as close as they got to getting back on terms.
For the remainder of the game, the sides matched each other score for score as Birr secured their place in the final.
