SEIR Kieran are the early leaders at the top of Group 1 of the Molloy Environmental Systems Offaly Senior Hurling Championship after they opened their campaign with a comfortable 1-19 to 0-7 win over Brosna Gaels on Saturday.
Despite seeing a Joe Bergin penalty saved in the first-half, Seir Kieran still lead by 0-9 to 0-4 and they pulled away at their ease after the restart to record a 15 point win with Joe Bergin accounting for 1-10 of their total.
Kilcormac/Killoughey opened the defence of their Senior Hurling Championship campaign with a seven point win over Birr by 0-19 to 0-12. The result leaves them joint top of the table but behind Seir Kieran on score difference.
Joining those sides on two points are Tullamore who had to hold off a second-half comeback from 14 man Drumcullen to secure the win on Saturday. The sides were locked at 0-4 apiece after 22 minutes but with a man advantage Tullamore pulled away to lead 0-7 to 0-4 at the break.
Tullamore extended their lead to six during the second half but a goal from a free from Conor Gath got Drumcullen back in contention but Tullamore held on for a 0-14 to 1-8 win.
