IT is looking increasingly likely that Offaly’s Leinster Senior Football Championship quarter-final with Kildare could be played on a Friday night under lights in Portlaoise.
According to a report in today’s Irish Independent, the Leinster Council are planning to break with tradition by fixing games for Fridays.
According to Leinster Council Chairman Martin Skelly who is quoted in the report, the game would have to be a local derby given travel considerations.
With that in mind and with Portlaoise suitably equipped with floodlights to host the game, the clash between Kildare and Offaly would seem like the ideal game for the experiment.
